Privacy Policy

Resonate has no account system and no analytics. Your music library, play counts, favourites and Discovery Log are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to us — because there is no "us" to transmit them to. We operate no server that receives your data.

What stays on your device

Your audio files, which you import yourself, and everything derived from them: the index, artwork, waveforms, separated stems and acoustic signatures.
Play counts, favourites, sort preferences, themes and equaliser settings.
Your Discovery Log, including any place names you choose to attach to it.

When the app uses the network

Resonate is designed to work fully offline. It contacts the internet in only four cases:

Identifying a song you do not own. An acoustic signature — a one-way summary that cannot be converted back into audio — is sent to Apple's ShazamKit service. Recognising music you already own happens entirely on device and sends nothing.
Fetching cover art for a song you asked the app to identify or re-tag.
Checking for updates, by downloading a small version file.
Serving advertisements in the free tier.

Advertising

The free tier shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and advertising data to select and measure ads, governed by Google's policies. If you are asked for tracking permission and decline, ads still appear but are not personalised. Purchasing Resonate Pro removes all advertising immediately.

Permissions

Microphone — used only while you are actively identifying a song. Audio is analysed in the moment and never recorded, stored or uploaded.
Location — optional, off by default. When enabled, an approximate place name is attached to Discovery Log entries and kept on your device.
Notifications — optional. Used for a Pro trial ending, a long task finishing, and a daily reminder if you ask for one.
Files — you choose which folders to import. Resonate copies them into its own storage and never reads anything you have not selected.

Purchases

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. Resonate only asks Apple whether an entitlement is active on this device.

Children

Resonate is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from them.
